This is a protocol manual dsigned for using Red Light Therapy on horses and dogs. It has been created to compliment the use of the entire line of New Wave Therapy Light devices. It explains what Red Light is, how it works, and how to have your animals receive the greatest benefit from the use of Red Light. This second edition was created in 2020.
Light therapy has been around for over 50 years. It emits specific wavelengths of light to restore, repair, and protect body tissues that have been injured, degenerated, or at risk of dying. While varying wavelengths affect the body differently, the most effective wavelengths for internal healing range from 625nm to 900 nm; that is why New Wave Therapy concentrates on 660nm and 850nm wavelengths.
Light Emitting Diode (LED) based therapy exposes light to the skin's surface, activates the skin's photoreceptors, and allows skin cells to absorb the energy. The light from the LED penetrates deeply into the skin treating tissue from the inside out; this then accelerates cell biochemical circulation and stimulates the production of collagen along with other processes. The different wavelengths of light combat different issues, such as: inhibiting Pacnes bacteria, reducing inflammation, and stimulating collagen formation. LED therapy works to improve oxygenation, and blood circulation, and aid in lymphatic drainage.
